All of these recipes start in the kitchen as home cooked meals. Most can be cooled and packed for an outdoor meal. Some, like roasted chicken, are starters for a meal, then lunch and maybe even a third recipe. Included are tips for maximizing ingredient use, multiple uses for ingredients and subsitution ideas. The recipes are a starting point, use your imagination, mix them up, adjust the seasonings to your taste. Use this blog as your creative inspiration and get out, eat out, and get fit!

First Post for Merle's Outdoor Dining ideas

While this blog will be about food, my meal ideas, how I cook, and how I pack the meals, it will ultimately help you make-and-take your meals with you on outdoor adventures.

I have been preparing make-and-take food for years so that we can get out of the house, hike, bike, float, etc and have exciting meals with us. We want to stay out as long as the weather allows and taking delicious food along helps us enjoy the experience even more.

This blog will focus on day-trips, but I hope to include camping ideas as well. My goal is to make easy, delicious recipes without the fuss of too many ingredients, steps, containers, and hassle. I hope you will help me by providing feedback and inspiration.
